What qualifies as a dental emergency?
A knocked out tooth or bitten tongue can cause panic in any parent, but quick thinking and staying calm are the best ways to approach such common dental emergencies and prevent additional unnecessary damage and costly dental restoration. This includes taking measures such as application of cold compresses to reduce swelling, and of course, contacting our office as soon as possible.
Why is it important to seek treatment for a dental emergency?
It is crucial to promptly and properly treat a dental emergency to prevent it from worsening. Even a small problem can quickly become serious if left untreated. In some cases, infections may develop, requiring additional treatment along with addressing the initial emergency. Therefore, we strongly recommend seeking immediate and appropriate care without any delay.
What are a few common dental emergencies?
If you experience any dental emergencies, it is crucial to schedule an appointment without delay. We often encounter a range of emergencies, such as intense toothaches, abscesses, infections, cracked or fractured teeth, broken crowns and fillings, as well as damaged or misplaced appliances like dentures or night guards.
What should you expect during dental emergency treatment?
To start, we would like to gather information about the issue you are currently facing to determine if an x-ray is needed. If it is necessary, we will promptly and easily proceed with the x-ray procedure. By analyzing the x-ray and examining your teeth, we can determine the root cause of the problem. During your visit, we will provide the appropriate treatment to prevent any further deterioration. In case of an ongoing infection, antibiotics may be prescribed to address it.
If you believe you are in an emergency situation and would like to schedule an appointment, please contact our office immediately.
